Responding to the autumn budget statement, Chris Bown, chairman of the south west pay, terms and conditions consortium, said:
“Existing legislation permits NHS trusts freedoms in how pay, terms and conditions are arranged at a local level.
“The south west pay, terms and conditions consortium was established to explore ways in which these existing freedoms may be used to support sustainability in services and employment in the face of unprecedented challenges.
“This remains the case.”

“On behalf of the consortium I welcome the recent NHS Staff Council proposals to amend aspects of Agenda for Change terms and conditions.
A ‘positive and constructive’ meeting of senior representatives from member organisations of the south west pay terms and conditions consortium took place last week.
The meeting, on 18 September, was attended by around 40 representatives, including chief executives, finance and human resources directors, and other senior staff. Continue reading
